Steve Beisser

Steve Beisser is a Professor of the Practice at UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School and an Entrepreneur in Residence at Launch Chapel Hill. With a career spanning consulting, healthcare leadership, operations management, engineering, and entrepreneurship, Steve brings a practical, multidisciplinary perspective to business education, innovation, and organizational strategy.


In 2014, Steve founded the Academic Benchmarking Consortium (ABC-Insights), an education technology company that helped colleges and universities evaluate whether their staffing models aligned with institutional priorities and operational needs. Under his leadership, ABC-Insights grew to serve 50 universities before being acquired by HelioCampus in 2020. Following the acquisition, Steve served as a Vice President and later as an Advisor at HelioCampus, retiring from the company in 2024.


Prior to founding ABC-Insights, Steve held leadership roles in consulting, healthcare administration, and operations management, developing expertise in organizational effectiveness, performance improvement, and data-driven decision-making.


Steve earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering, with honors, from Rutgers School of Engineering, where he was inducted into Tau Beta Pi and Alpha Pi Mu. He also holds an MBA from UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School.


Outside of his professional work, Steve is an accomplished pianist, a PADI-certified Advanced Open Water Diver, and an avid road cyclist. He lives in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, with his wife and their two daughters. One daughter is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, while the other is currently pursuing her undergraduate studies there.
